Over Thanks Giving break I decided to get back into painting and to take some time away from jewelry for a bit. A while back, I had taken some photographs for my friend and her boyfriend for their prom. Some time later, she asked me to paint one of the pictures for his birthday. I chose one that highlighted her gorgeous red dress as well as had a lot of contrasting colors.
I had taken a break from painting and drawing for a long time once I had discovered the realm of jewelry. Painting this picture was very relaxing, like a breath of fresh air. I found that I actually missed painting. I used to sit with my grandmother for hours as she taught me how to use water color, and I found myself painting with her, once again, a few days after I started this painting for my friend. I wish I had not shut this aspect of art out of my life for such a long time. After I completed this painting I found myself playing around with the colors more, spending hours on end at my desk. I had a great time creating this painting and will be doing more in the future.

My friend, Halee, loved the gift and rewarded me with some much needed sushi.
